Nick Saban has won two championships (one with LSU, one with Bama), and one Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award trophy too! Will he have another trophy to add to his collection after tonight’s game?

Will Nick Saban be happy with his team’s performance the next time he’s running onto the field (to start the second half)?

Flashback!
These wide receivers are on another stratosphere compared to the Alabama receivers. Only Marquise Maze of Alabama is even remotely close to the talent showcased by the headliners of the LSU receiving corp, Russell Shepard and Rueben Randle. Randle and Shepard are so gifted they make the unimpressive Jarrett Lee look like the Trent Dilfer of college football. But what is more astonishing is that they have given an athlete in Jordan Jefferson the remote resemblance of a quarterback. So it is understandable the ineptitude of the LSU quarterbacks is the only reason why the LSU passing game is ranked 105th. Without receivers like Shepard and Randle LSU would easily have close to the worst passing game in the nation.

Trent Richardson will most certainly not recreate this play out on the field today with the ferocious LSU Tigers out there with him. But he is always more than capable to recreate something close to that play. In fact, Richardson might not have had one single play in his last game against LSU that resembled the Ole Miss play, but still he had a great impact on the game with the stat line he produced, even without touchdowns. And if Trent reproduces a stat line similar to that 89 rushing yards and 80 receiving yards Alabama will be in perfect position to take victory. Remember one thing though. Trent Richardson cannot be stopped, he can only contained.

Probably, the most talented secondary since the collection of defensive backs on the 2005 National Championship Texas Longhorns. However, there is a great argument to be made in favor of the 2011 LSU Tigers having the greatest secondary to date. Since the LSU Tigers have the Bednarik and Thorpe award winners in their awesome duo of Tyrann Mathieu and Morris Claiborne. But the rest of the secondary is not chopped liver as is seen from this clip of safety Eric Reid taking a touchdown away from Alabama’s Michael Williams in the aforementioned “Game of the Century.” This perfect blend of big-hitters and thieves are so good at what they do opposing teams have to hold their breath every time the ball goes in the air. Otherwise you will not be ready for the unpleasing sight of a big hit, takeaway, or even touchdown courtesy of the LSU secondary.
It is not as though Alabama secondary is not good at all. Instead, it is the complete opposite. They are easily one of the best groups of defensive backs headed by Mark Barron and Dre Kirkpatrick. But sorry Dre and Barron, Mathieu and Claiborne are just a tad bit better.
